How it all started

Every company has a “once upon a time”, ours was in the mind of one James Beresford. His love for numbers started in Engineering, but his innovative perspective and analytical skills led him to the world of finance. It was also this path that introduced him to his partner in business and in life, Trudi. Together, they committed to a life in finance, both graduating with a Masters degree in Financial Planning

While Trudi earned experience outside the business — working for the Australia’s leading finance houses, James single handedly grew the business. He will tell you that the ordeal was brutal, but this taught him many invaluable lessons that he still imparts to his team to this day. Eventually, Trudi joined the team, and it was her input that provided a powerful impetus for the organisation’s steady growth.

Beresfords has come a long way from its inception in 1993, but our core has not changed. We value people — their stories, plans and aspirations. It is with that thought that we’ve fostered a culture of family, not just within our team but also our clients. James studied Commerce at James Cook University, completed his Masters at the University of Western Sydney and is Certified Financial Planner. When he isn’t immersed in learning more about finance or catering to his clients, he spends his time seeing the world with his wife and kids.

After finishing his degree with honours, Stephen commenced his career working at Halifax Bank of Scotland in the UK before moving to Australia where he took positions at ING and Rabobank. In 2004, Stephen made the move into wealth management with Beresfords and has never looked back.

HARRY BRONN

Manager, Financial Services

To say Harry Bronn is experienced in the field of finance is an understatement. Modest as he is, Harry has spent decades in the industry, starting with the Standard Bank’s Treasury Division. In the span of 2 years, he worked his way into being the Head of Corporate Treasury sales. This is where his expertise in money market investment and currency and interest rate hedging sales was honed.

After that, Harry worked for Calyon — a major French bank. While with them, he spent 5 successful years in the Dealing Rooms of Paris and New York, set up the interest rate hedging book in Australia and handled treasury derivatives for Asia in Singapore. In 2001, he decided take on being the Head of Corporate Treasury for St. George’s Bank in Australia.

His finance planning journey comes full circle when he joined Beresfords as a Senior Adviser. In this job, he is able to use the wealth knowledge that he has acquired throughout the years and in different aspects of finance to guide his clients through their own financial journeys.

After 20 years in TV production and events, Lara has become accustomed to paying attention to details, making people feel welcome and taking initiative. Since she joined the Beresford team in 2012, she’s brought her experience and positive disposition to the company — constantly reinforcing its deep relationship with clients. Lara also works closely with the marketing team and manages specific projects.

When she’s not busy, she enjoys volunteering in the community and spending time with her family and friends.

Prior her role as a financial adviser, she worked in the corporate and institutional banking sector, both in Australia and overseas. Armed with her strong analytical and interpersonal skills, she eventually found her way to financial planning in 2006.

Since she joined the Beresfords team in 2015, Jillian has become known for her uncanny ability to navigate complex financial issues with her clients. She’s driven by the need to help them understand their situation and guide them closer to their financial goals.

When she’s not busy dishing out advice on Aged Care or superannuation, Jillian is either exploring the great Australian outdoors or enjoying a quiet afternoon with her family and friends.
